A law enforcement helicopter conducted an aerial sweep but reported no active disturbance. Even so, authorities discovered that hundreds of people had gathered without authorization without authorization.
When the Shots Rang Out
Responding units worked to disperse the crowd by surrounding the park and issuing commands over loudspeakers directing those gathered to disperse at once. Approximately 15 minutes were spent for attendees to disperse.

What Investigators Found
The primary shooting scene seemed to have occurred adjacent to the Cottage Way side of the park close to the Home Depot store on the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Detectives located additional shell casings on the Cottage Way roadway. Projectile impacts were identified in the iron fence surrounding the Home Cottage Way shooting Sacramento Depot store. This evidence pointed to that at least one shooter had been shooting in a southerly direction from the Cottage Way area in the direction of the Home Depot. The Home Depot was temporarily locked down during the incident. Crime scene personnel worked tirelessly throughout the night.
